![]() ![]() ![]() This has been a project to get it back up and running and it now sounds great. This amplifier came to us in a sorry state, missing part of the circuit board and a transformer. It is far from an original amplifier, but has been brought back up to standards and playable. Internally, there has been a lot of parts changed. Please have a close look at the high resolution photographs below, as these form part of our description. The speaker has a small tear in it, as pictured, but still retains a great sound with no significant sound differences. You can see the remnants of where another handle was previously added and then replaced again with the correct type. It is missing the 2x brass vents and has a handmade backboard. Besides from the paint, there are a few scuffs and scratches all over. Overall in 'good' players-grade condition. ![]() To find out more about what our service includes, please check out our terms and conditions before purchasing. This amplifier has been serviced to a playable & safe standard, by one of our leading amp techs. Tremolo activated by switch (as pictured) Voltage Selector: Non - Previously Removedįootswitch: No. Transformers: 1x Partridge, 1x Correct Replacement & 1x Original Valve Brands: Mullard, Brimar & Electro Harmonix We have stripped as much paint as we can off this amplifier, for the buyer to decide whether this piece of history is to be stripped back even more to the original fawn or kept as it is - with a story to tell! When Vox changed the tolex of these amplifiers from fawn to black in 1962, current owners of the Vox amplifiers wanted the 'new' look, hence painting them black to fit in with the new fashion of all black amplifiers. This particular amplifier has had the 'infamous' black paint job on it back in the 1960s. Please don't expect this to be a collectors amplifier - it really is not. Thanks everybody, you've been a huge help! This particular amplifier was only made from January - December in 1961 and is one of the hardest Vox amplifiers to find - the 'Thin Edge' Fawn Cabinet, with the Black control panel.Īlthough this is a rare amplifier, this particular one has been refurbished from a sorry state to the playable state it is now in. or just plug it into another amp i guess? Though I'm trying to downsize gradually and that would make me wanna keep more amps. For the heck of it while watchin' TV last night, I was even curious enough to look up Vox replacement grill cloth, beading and vinyl/tolex to make a new and very convincing cab for one that could hold a larger speaker. I was running that 12" speaker idea through my head last night, wondering if they ever put one out with a 12" or not? If I found one with a larger speaker, I'd likely grab it. Outside of an expected boxiness I kinda hear in videos, is the tone of an AC10 in the ballpark of an AC!5 at all? I mean, in essence is it there or more it's own amp? I called around, none of the music stores close enough have one to go try out - Dang. A head does interest me though, hadn't given that much thought being so dead set on a combo, until now & I've read a lot of people making the argument (and I totally get it) that the AC10 & 15 aren't the same amp. My 'pack and go' days are behind me mostly, just jammin' around the house or at neighbors. And I'm worried about the 15's tone at low vol levels. Ain't nothin' weird at all about support local - awesome.Įven though I want that AC15 tone, I'll probably lean to the AC10 for now, only becasue I already have my share of heavy amps. Not in my budget at this time, but it is in my crosshairs now. That Winfield Dust Devil earned itself a shortcut on my home scree!. ![]()
